Vitoria-Gasteiz is the capital of the Basque Country in Northern Spain, with a population of 235,661 inhabitants. It is the second largest Basque city.

The Spanish Gastronomy Capital prize was awarded to Vitoria-Gasteiz in 2014.

The city won the "European Green Capital 2012" award which recognised Vitoria-Gasteiz as the city which was most committed to environmental conservation in the European Union.

For those arriving at Bilbao airport, you can take the city bus service (Bizkaibus) to the bus terminal in Bilbao.
