Efficiency and resilience of forage resources and small ruminant production to cope with global challenges in Mediterranean areas

Meknes, Morocco, 23 to 25 October 2019

The next Joint Meeting of the FAO-CIHEAM Network for Research and Development in Sheep and Goats (Subnetworks on Nutrition and Production Systems) and the FAO-CIHEAM Subnetwork for the Research and Development of Mediterranean Pasture and Forage Resources will take place in Meknes, Morocco, during the second half of October 2019 (exact dates to be communicated soon).
Participation is open to researchers, technicians, post-graduate students and other professionals working to improve the small ruminant sector and forage and pasture resources across Mediterranean countries and beyond. You are kindly invited to register and submit your abstracts before 8th March 2019, choosing one of the following topics:

  • Improving crop and livestock integration in Mediterranean production systems.
  • Woodlands and rangelands in livestock production systems: challenges and opportunities in the framework of climate change.
  • Production systems and product value chains: meeting the societal demand for safe, healthy and ethical products.
  • A better life for farmers and shepherds: improving economic returns, social image and working conditions of small ruminant farming.
  • Innovations for sustainable sheep and goat production – iSAGE project session.
  • Increasing the contribution of grazed forage to small ruminant nutrition
  • Nutritional and management strategies to improve sheep and goat adaptation and production efficiency
  • Feed and food safety
