The symposium “Sustaining peace - the right to food in conflict contexts and protracted crises” will take place on 25 November 2026 in Zaragoza, Spain.
The symposium will bring together scholars, experts, practitioners and representatives of affected communities to strengthen dialogue and collaboration across human rights, humanitarian assistance, development, and peacebuilding actors for enhanced respect, protection, and fulfilment of the right to food in conflict contexts and protracted crises. The symposium aims to raise awareness, strengthen understanding of the existing applicable international framework, analyse the impact of conflicts and protracted crises on agrifood systems, and explore reconstruction models grounded in rights-based approaches and peacebuilding processes based on the right to adequate food.
